Virat Kholi is the current captain of India. He is also listed as one of the best batsmen in the world among all other international cricketers. Virat is currently making his own personal and world records day by day. Naturally, it is expected that the players who debuted with this extraordinary talent would make it to the big fields and lists as well. But unfortunately, some of them didn’t.
Here’s the list of 5 players who did not make it big even after doubting with Virat Kohli:
1. Manpreet Gony
Gony was a right-arm fast bowler from Punjab. He was in the Indian team as a replacement for Sreesanth when he was injured. He did make a good impression of himself to the audience during the IPL matches, where he apparently managed to pick 17 wickets from 16 games.
Though he used to play really well during the death overs. He failed to create a big impact and soon enough his name was scratched off from the list. But he continued to play for Kings XI Punjab and Gujrat Lions during the IPL matches.
Back in 2019, he was selected by the Toronto Nationals 2019 for the Global Canada Tournament.
2. Subramaniam Badrinath
Badrinath is one of the very talented Indian Cricketers from Tamil Nadu. He also was equipped with pretty amazing batting skills. Since he did play well for the domestic matches, he was bought by Chennai Super Kings in 2008.
Though he was not much of a hitter, he did hit well enough to score some amazing runs for the team. But, when he was included in the Indian team, he failed to show his real performance. Where he just scored 79 runs from 7 ODI games.
After the end of the World Cup, he was included in another round of ODI and T20I against the west indies. And that was reportedly his last game as an internal cricketer.
Right now, he’s working as a Tamil commentator for Start Sports.
3. Pragyan Ojha
Reportedly Ojha broke the orthodox beliefs when he joined the team as a left-arm bowler. He is one of the best spinners and he made his international debut during the ODI, 2008.
Unfortunately, he was not effective in the limited-over format and ended up with a score of only 21 wickets from 18 ODIs. But the main problem that didn’t let him get to the big fields was his injuries. His last international game was with Tendulkar.
Since then Ojha has never appeared in any form of International Games. But he did continue to play IPL matches. Back in 2020, on the 21st of February, Ojha announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.
4. Manoj Tiwari
Tiwari is a well-known right-handed batsman, and one of the most talented batsmen in the history of Indian Cricket. When he performed brilliantly during the domestic matches, he was included in the Indian Team and given a chance to prove his skills as an international cricketer.
Where he did score a century against West Indies, however, it wasn’t enough for him to cement his place in the Indian cricket team. His last international game was in 2015 a match against Zimbabwe.
And since then he’s been playing for Bengal in domestic cricket. Later he was bought by Pune. He couldn’t find any buyers during the 2019 auction for IPL. Also, his international career is almost over now.
5. Yusuf Pathan
Pathan is a right-handed cricketer from Baroda, he made his international debut back in 2007. He was also considered as an aggressive batsman for the Indian Team. This made him one of the key players for the team. But also he was an aggressive cricketer he used to get very few opportunities in limited-overs formats.
In his T20I debut, he played the opening inning for his team in the finals against Pakistan 2007. Though he did play in a very terrific way, he did not cement his place in the Indian Team. His last game as an international cricketer was back in 2012.
After ending his debut when it comes to international cricket, he played for KKR, but soon he was released due to his poor form . Later he was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad and now he still plays for the same team.
