Benjamin Andrew Stokes better known as Benjamin Stokes made a heart-touching reply to Virat Kohli’s comment on his retirement post. The 31-year-old English cricketer who has served as England’s captain for a good long time has announced his retirement from ODI cricket on Monday, 18th of July 2022.
Via his social media handle, he put out that England’s ODI match against South Africa that is going to happen on Tuesday, 19th of July at his home ground Chester-le-Street in Durham, is going to be his farewell match from the ODIs.
Ending his ODI career Ben Stokes aims to focus better on the Test Captaincy.
Ben Stokes adds that playing for all three formats for so long has been an honor for him and this decision to retire from ODIs is incredibly tough. He emphasized that being a Test Captain he wants to focus on this longest format of cricket better and playing in all three formats has been ‘unsustainable’ now.

Ahead of Ben Stokes’ farewell match, he was asked in the press conference about his retirement from ODIs and the special comment that Virat made on his declaration post to which he said that he has always appreciated the energy and commitment that this Indian star shows on the ground. He adds,
“Yeah, Virat’s gonna go down as one of the greatest ever players to have ever played the game in all three formats”.
Ben Stokes further gave a great response to former England captain Nasser Hussain on the Sky Sports show saying,
“Virat’s a phenomenal player. I have absolutely loved it every time I have played against him. The energy and the commitment that he gives on the field is something that I’ve admired even before I started playing against him. When you play against guys like that, you understand what the game means not only to you but to others who are lucky enough to play it. I’m sure we’re gonna have some more battles on the field.”
