Ashwin’s YouTube Drops CSK Coverage After Guest’s Comment Causes Stir

Ravichandran Ashwin won’t be talking about Chennai Super Kings matches on his YouTube channel for the rest of IPL 2025 — and it all comes down to one guest’s comment.

The veteran CSK spinner, known for his sharp cricketing mind, has built a loyal following on his channel since launching it in 2020. Fans tune in for his smart takes, fun chats, and behind-the-scenes stories about the game.

But things got a little messy after a recent video featured Prasanna Agoram, a regular guest and former analyst for Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the South Africa national team.

During the episode, Agoram questioned CSK’s move to buy Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad at the IPL auction. He suggested it didn’t make sense when the team already had two experienced spinners — Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja — on the roster.

That comment didn’t sit well with many fans, and the heat quickly reached Ashwin.

To calm things down, the channel put out a statement saying it would stop covering CSK matches — both previews and reviews — for the rest of the season. The message, shared through Ashwin’s channel admin, said the team wants to “be mindful of how things can be interpreted.”

The statement also made it clear that guests’ views don’t reflect Ashwin’s own opinions. “We value the diversity of perspectives,” it said, adding that the show will continue as usual for all non-CSK games.

Ashwin hasn’t commented directly, but his channel’s decision shows he’s not looking to stoke any more controversy.

As for CSK, they’re not having the best season so far. They’re ninth in the table with just 2 points from 4 games. Their next match is against Punjab Kings on Tuesday, April 8.
