Bhuvneshwar Kumar has written his name into the IPL record books. The Royal Challengers Bangalore pacer is now the highest wicket-taking fast bowler in the tournament’s history.
During Monday night’s game against the Mumbai Indians, Bhuvneshwar dismissed Tilak Verma in the 18th over—his only wicket of the match. But it was a big one. That scalp took his overall tally to 184 wickets, pushing him past Dwayne Bravo, who had held the record with 183 wickets.
It’s taken Bhuvneshwar 179 matches to hit the mark, just edging out Bravo’s 183 in 161 games. While he gave away 48 runs in four overs, the breakthrough moment helped RCB tighten the grip and eventually win the match.
With this, Bhuvneshwar now leads the all-time IPL fast bowler wicket list. Bravo slides to second, while Lasith Malinga, another IPL great, is third with 170 wickets from just 122 matches. Mumbai Indians’ star Jasprit Bumrah sits fourth with 165 wickets in 134 games, followed by Umesh Yadav at fifth with 144 from 148 matches.
