Ambati Rayudu, the ex-Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) star, can’t seem to stay out of the spotlight. The 39-year-old has turned into a social media firestorm, trading verbal punches with cricket legends on live TV. Just a day after locking horns with former India cricketer Sanjay Bangar, Rayudu took on Navjot Singh Sidhu during Tuesday’s IPL clash between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and CSK. And boy, did things heat up fast!
It all kicked off when Rayudu called Sidhu a “girgit” (chameleon) for switching teams. Sidhu didn’t hold back, firing back on air: “If there’s anyone in this world like a chameleon, it’s your idol!” The jab hit hard, and the clip exploded online, racking up views and reactions across platforms. Fans couldn’t get enough of the drama.

Rayudu’s no stranger to speaking his mind. Known for his love of CSK and MI, he’s built a rep as an unfiltered pundit who doesn’t mince words. He’s even taken swipes at Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the past, making it clear where his loyalties lie. But this IPL season, it’s his commentary box battles stealing the show.
Just before the PBKS-CSK game, Rayudu clashed with Sanjay Bangar over Mumbai Indians’ captaincy drama. Bangar argued that Rohit Sharma should play a bigger role on the field, helping current skipper Hardik Pandya with strategy. Rayudu wasn’t having it. “Hardik doesn’t need anyone’s input,” he shot back. “A captain needs to be left alone.” He doubled down, pointing to legends like MS Dhoni and Rohit, who thrived without constant advice. “Why should Hardik have 10 people in his ear?”
Bangar, a former coach, hit back hard. “You never led an IPL team, so it’s different for you. Rohit’s a guy who’s won multiple titles.” Ouch. The exchange was tense, and it’s clear Rayudu’s not afraid to ruffle feathers.
With Rayudu in the mix, IPL 2025 isn’t just about the on-field action. The pundit panel’s turning into its own battleground, and fans are here for it. Expect more fireworks as the tournament rolls on—Rayudu’s just getting started.
