Watch: Abhishek Sharma’s Blistering Century Lights Up IPL, Mom’s Reaction Wins Hearts

Abhishek Sharma turned the heat up in Hyderabad with a blazing 141 off just 55 balls, silencing critics and lifting Sunrisers Hyderabad off the bottom of the IPL 2025 table. The 23-year-old opener, who had struggled with low scores all season, found form at just the right time—against Punjab Kings on Saturday.

It wasn’t just the runs that had people talking. Abhishek’s mother, Manju Sharma, stole the show with her emotional reaction to her son’s match-winning knock. Speaking to the IPL in a video shared on social media, she said, “Everyone’s happy, I’m happy, all of Hyderabad is happy that we won. There was a bit of a stop earlier, but not anymore—now it’s going to continue.”

The innings came after a rough patch for Abhishek, who had scored just 24, 6, 1, 2, and 18 in his previous outings. Questions were being asked about whether he should stay in the playing XI, but Saturday’s performance put all doubts to rest.

What made the feat even more impressive? Abhishek had been running a fever for four days before the match.

“To be honest, I was sick. I had a temperature. But I’m lucky to have people like Yuvraj Singh and Suryakumar Yadav checking in on me,” Abhishek said after the game. “They kept calling me, saying I could do this. When guys like that believe in you, it helps you believe in yourself.”

He added, “It was just a matter of one innings for me.”

It certainly was. One innings to flip the script, fire up the fans, and put Sunrisers back in the race.
