Yuzvendra Chahal, India’s leg-spinner, has replied amusingly to a video in which India captain Rohit Sharma chastises Chahal for his lethargy and tells him to move faster when shifting his fielding position.
With the game on the verge of a thrilling conclusion, India’s captain was attempting to get his field placements just perfect, with pacers and spinners working in combination. While Rohit Sharma was altering his fielders, he appeared to be dissatisfied with Chahal’s transition from one position to the next.
During the second ODI against West Indies in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, Rohit yelled at Chahal, which was recorded on the stump mic.
As caught on the stump mic, Rohit told Chahal,
“Peecha jhaa. Kya hua tereko? Bhaag kyun nahi raha hai theek se? Chal udhar bhaag.”
It loosely means “What happened to you? Why aren’t you running properly? Go and field there.”
The video has gone popular on social media, with admirers sharing it across a variety of sites. Yuzvendra Chahal responded to Captain Rohit Sharma’s video with a humorous retort of his own.

Rohit’s remark on Chahal shows his captaincy traits
The recent One-Day International series is Rohit’s first as India’s full-time limited-overs captain. India defeated West Indies by four wickets in the first ODI and by 44 runs in the second ODI to seal an invincible 3-0 victory in the three-match series.
Rohit has shown good leadership in all three matches thus far, making essential fowling and fielding adjustments without fear of experimenting. Chahal’s departure from the 3rd ODI is also seen as experimentation of Rohit Sharma.
His harsh statements toward Chahal might also be seen as an expression of his worry for the cricketer’s performance at a key point in the match for India.
The 31-year-old cricketer responds,
“Captain Ka Hukum Sarankhon Par.”
If we translate and decode Chahal’s response in English, it loosely means, “Need to follow the captain’s order by all means.”
Chahal’s response was an instant success among fans, however, the cricketer afterwards deleted the post.
The leg-spinner was criticized for his poor bowling in the previous ODI series in and against South Africa, where he was unable to secure wickets in the middle overs and even failed to control the batsmen after losing out on the T20 World Cup 2021.
Chahal, on the other hand, has returned with a roar against the West Indies on the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad pitch, which has been very helpful to him. In the first ODI, he took four wickets and was also awarded Player of the Match. In the second ODI, he took one wicket but only gave up 45 runs in his 10-over session, putting pressure on the batsmen. It looks like the Narendra Modi Stadium pitch has been assisting him a lot.
Though he didn’t play last ODI due to several reasons, his comeback is surely a story of the series.
It’s a clean sweep for India
India has swept the West Indies in one-day internationals for the first time. The Indian bowlers put up a strong effort, dismissing the visitors for 169 runs, with Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna both getting three wickets, and Deepak Chahar and Kuldeep Yadav each claiming two dismissals.
The battle will now shift to Kolkata for a three-match T20 series.
What do you think about Chahal’s performance? Will he be able to make an impact in the upcoming T20 series?
