Cricket is a competitive game. But so it is a personal one if we talk about the cricketers and their personal goals, achievements, and barriers. Sometimes age comes up as a huge matter of discussion and sometimes TRP. Regardless of the cricketers who represented their teams at least once in their career should get a farewell cause of their splendid performance.
Below are the cricketers who left the game abruptly and ended their career:
1. Navjot Singh Sidhu
He was called, “unfit” and was removed from the team. Honestly, that was a very heartbreaking moment for him and the fandom as well. Sometimes decisions don’t favor both the parties and that doesn’t come out to be fair. Azharuddin made sure the reports and media know that Sidhu isn’t fit enough to participate in the World Cup.
2. VVS Laxman
Just because he didn’t score well in one game as he was expected to, he was terminated from the team. During India’s Australian tour of 2011, he was badly criticized for the same reason as well. He ended up with only 2 centuries in 8 innings and that’s when everyone asked him to retire straight in his face.
3. Kevin Pietersen
Tagged as one of the best cricketer of team England. He was loved by his fans and his team, but he bid farewell out of the blue. He informed that he took this decision just so that he can prioritize his family. 2018 was the last time he played professionally.
4. James Taylor
James was one of the terrific fielders. His fielding game helped the team to win so many matches against a team that was on its edge of winning. But due to a deadly heart disease called, “arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy,” he had to leave cricket. And he was only 26 when he left playing.
5. Henry Olonga
Just because he was involved in a drama, which happened back in the 2003 world cup. He wore a black band around his wrist to show he’s supporting the protest against the death of democracy. He got involved in media drama and got terminated by the highest authorities from international cricketers.
6. Jonathan Trott
Jonathan used to play as England’s top-order batsman. But probably the match they lost against West Indies made him take the decision of impulsive resignation from cricket. He even dealt with anxiety and post-traumatic stress after that.
7. Mohammad Kaif
Fielding was his cup of tea. The number of times his team got saved because of his swift skills in catching the biggest 6 is unnoticed and uncountable at this moment now. Though he retired from cricket when he was only 26, cause under Greg’s coaching he went through some issues and thought it must be the best for him to simply resign.
And after the world cup 2008, he was dropped out from the team itself because of his poor gaming skills.
8. Mark Boucher
Imran Tahir’s unruly bowling skills ended up ending a cricketer’s career. hit the stump and caused a bail to fly, and hit the eye of Boucher. He was taken to the hospital and later he was found out to have damaged his eye cause lateral damage making him quit cricket.
