MS Dhoni, the calm, cool, consistent, and very successful team captain. But is it all that describes him the best? Except for that, he has a record of setting records. Which might be pretty difficult for other players to break.
Here’s the list of 5 records set by MS Dhoni:
1. First captain to win all three ICC limited-overs trophies
He is the only captain to win 3 ICC trophies (World Cup, Champions Trophy and the World Twenty20). No other captain worldwide did the same. No wonder why MS Dhoni is one of the best captains and was an asset to the Indian Team.
2. The only captain to lead his team to 6 T20 World Cups
Dhoni had a very long duration in his career with the Indian cricket team. And so with his captainship. Fun fact, most of his years did get spent by him being the captain of the Indian cricket team.
He took his team to the World Cup Finals, by defeating Pakistan and that’s when the Indian team rose to fame and kept going uphill under him.
To do the same when it comes to any other captain, the player has to be captain of the team for more than 12 years. Which practically sounds and seems impossible anyway. So let’s just root for Dhoni only.
3. First Indian Player to reach 350 dismissals
Dhoni is a terrific and amazing wicket-keeper. His action when it comes to stumping is below a second. When it comes to wicket-keeping he holds another record at the same. He is the only Indian player to have scored 350 dismissals.
4. Highest number of stumping in International Cricket
Either you must be living under a rock, or you must not be much of a cricket fan if you don’t have any idea of Dhoni’s stumping skills. His quick reflex and very un-regrettable impulsive choice is actually a reason why team India did have some successful victory rate back in those days. Right now he stands at a stumping rate of 188, which is way above any other player.
5. The only captain to attend so many international matches
Dhoni being the man he is has attended way too many international cricket matches with his team. And not to mention, he always did make us proud and showed terrific results.
Back in 2017, he gave in his 10-year-old captaincy to Virat Kholi. Dhoni took part in 331 matches. Meanwhile, Kohli is at his 126th game.
Though all other captains and players are amazing at what they do, Dhoni’s record seems to be unbreakable and pretty strong for any player to beat him at that.
